In which the reptile Holy War continues thanks to Sharri ...

Speaking of Holy War casualties - as it seems we must do - the lizard Oz has quite a few bodies to bury ... late yesterday the War on the poodle continued apace and Kev was wheeled out for the Holy War on Malware ...

Then today the reptiles enlisted Josh in the War, and Simon Benson went over the top like a digger of old ...

The pond knew at once that Malware was in deep doo-dah and that the front line was collapsing.

No better evidence was required than the wretched half-arsed reinforcements a rear guard action rushed to the front line ...

With this Battle of the Bulge raging, the pond knew it was a bridge too far, and Malware was doomed. If the best the reptiles have got to stem the bleeding and speak against the Holy War is Gazza, then Malware is far from home and out of gas ...

What better way to confirm it than to turn to the pond's favourite Friday read in the Terror?

Hah, forget that talk of a Holy War, it's time for a chess metaphor ... unless ... didn't Bobby Fischer say "Chess is war ... the object is to crush the opponent's mind"? (sort of, here).

Now at this point the pond should probably issue a trigger warning.

Nothing will be gained by reading on, but as a result of being warned, the pond will not entertain any complaints about being made to waste time ... every day at the pond is a waste of time, and that's the entire point of the proceedings ... bubble-headed booby analysis designed to fill the digital ether void with tips that ... something might happen ...

And there you go, a masterly act of equivocation and double speak and useless think. Should there be a revolt, something might happen ...

Naturally there was a photo op of the heroic Bishop in action ...

But really, how many times must the pond remind the Terrorists of their illustrative obligations?

Okay, duty done, it's on with the read for the few remaining hardy souls ... because those lines about Malware and gorgeous George and the diagonal Bishop?

They deserve repeating ...

By golly, around this point the pond was as desperate as the Liberal party, so it naturally reached for a relieving Rowe, knowing it could point to more relief-inducing Rowe here ...

Oh the pond loves that baleful eye poking out from the coffin, but hey nonny no, on we go with Sharri ...

Restore confidence in his leadership? Is that like pumping helium into a punctured barrage balloon?

Talk about a huge bunch of hot air floating into the ether at the wacky, zany doings of the Malware team ... must be time to cue another Rowe ...

Now it's true that there's a charming symmetry to the idea of the Bishop checkmating Malware, the same way that Julia Gillard took former Chairman Rudd off the board ...

But what's really funny is the half-hearted way that Sharri tries to lather up the coup ...

All that to discover they might not even have the time to mount a coup before the whole shonky edifice collapses like Alice's heap of cards?

But there was an even better joke, in the form of an instruction.

Malware needs to find the strength?!

That's like clarion calls for the old jellyback to find a spine, or for the spineless one to acknowledge he's produced the worst of all worlds with his wretched version of the NBN ...

Fat chance of that happening ...

So how did Sharri's half-hearted attempt to mount a coup of the 1. f3 e52. g4?? Qh4# kind go down with the Terror readership?

Forget the asbestos woman, embark on a Holy War jihad and bring back the onion muncher!!

Sure, he's a little mangy, smelly and fly-blown but he's standing by to be dusted off and disinterred, so that he can stalk the earth again ...

And what a winning move that will be ... up there with Malware's design of the NBN.

Oh it's a rich landscape if you happen to be Comrade Bill ...
Apologies to Rowe for mutilating his art, but now it's off to the Pope for a rich blessing this day, knowing that more blessings are available here ...

  1. " ... every day at the pond is a waste of time"

No no, DP, nothing could be further ...

Back some time ago I watched an SBS doco on how people handle getting old. One oldish (80-something) lady was interviewed and she owned that she had neither relatives nor friends and spent nearly all her time at home. And what do you do there ? the interviewer asked. Why, she replied, I potter.

No, not the clay kind, just anything her mind could find to divert her attention. So forewarned is forearmed, DP. I could do lots of potterings - I could weed the garden, for instance (and I do, now and then). But mainly, I can spend time with loonpond ! And I do.

Potter on ! I say, potter on !

  2. How good is the Pope today? It would lead you to believe we are an ignorant people totally insensitive to others beliefs and cultures, always assuming we are right regardless of the facts - oh hang on - - - -

  3. So Sharri is promoting JBish on the same day that Catherine McGregor has posted what I at first assumed was a satirical piece in the Fairfax press. Who are the shadowy forces co-ordinating this attempted disaster? My comment on the McGregor article was "a puff piece about a puff piece".

  4. Poor Giles he does not seem to understand that the much vaunted "classical" and historical style of art that he prefers was an a product of and reinforced the then dominant Newtonian clock-work "single vision" world view which gave rise to the "dark satanic mills". Both of these terms were used by William Blake as part of his prophetic and scathing criticism of the dark zeitgeist of his time and place, and the dismal future that it was creating.

Meanwhile this reference provides a much more illuminating understanding of the very best of modern art and its attempts to break through the dominance of the "single vision". www.artandphysics.com

  5. The word annals is very similar to the word anal. Which could point out how boring old farts like Giles are very much stuck in the past with their heads up their butts.

Erich Fromm was of course one of the most perceptive critics of the "culture" of death which gave rise to both the world wars and by extension the USA military-industrial- complex which is now the dominant world wide force.

  6. It'[s been a few years since I played chess, but I am pretty sure a black tile bishop cannot take a piece on a white tile.
